We eat gokayuh (rice gruel) on the seventh day of the new year.
Because our stomachs are tired after eating so much mochi and osechi-ryori from January 1.
So it becomes customary to eat rice gruel, which is easily digestible.
We call it gNanakusa-gayuh because we put seven kinds of herbs in it.
These herbs are:seri,nazuna,gogyou,hakobera,hotokenoza,suzuna and suzusiro.
These herbs are mild on the stomach, help digestion,
increaseblood cells,and provide nutrition.
This is very healthy food which was discovered by people a long time ago.
This day originally used to be called gJinjitsu no Sekkuh.
