Many years ago,people did not have beautiful dolls like
we do today.
They used to make their own dolls out of grass or paper,say
prayers,and
float them down the river or sea. This was called gNagashi-binah.
Because
this was done around the time peach flowers bloom,
it has
come to be calledgMomo no Sekkuh,
but it used to be called gJoshi
no Sekkuh.
Displaying dolls indoors became a practice quite a while
later.
